Netflix and Chill: Lesbian Edition

Love is in the air and if you believe the adverts February 14th is the time to tell the one you love that you love them.
You know what else it’s time for? Some serious Netflix and Chill.

Here’s my top lezzy film picks for the uhm festive season.

Imagine Me and You

Does love at first sight exist? If you’re a cynic like me, this 2005 Brit film starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) and Lena Headley (GoT) might well change your mind. The plan on your wedding day isn’t to fall for the florist but it makes a damn good love film. YOU’RE A WANKER NUMBER NINE.

Room in Rome

Honestly, I don’t remember anything about the plot. There’s a lot of nakedness and I think it’s subtitled (Spanish?). Watch this if you don’t fancy watching a film (bowchikkawowow).

Kissing Jessica Stein

Easy to watch and sickly sweet. The characters are a little irritating but this is the kind of film you can put on and not think about anything for an hour or so.

One of my all time favourite films ever. Angelina Jolie at her best starring in the biographical drama about the tragic life of supermodel Gia Carangi. Stunning and heartbreaking.

Blue is the Warmest Colour

This french feature caused a storm at Cannes a couple of years ago as well as a certain amount of controversy for the graphic sex scenes (not for the easily embarassed). Based on a book, La Vie d’Adele, the story is of young girl Adele who meets blue haired Emma and is instantly drawn to her.

Telling the tale of an androgynous lesbian in 1960’s Paris, the main character becomes an escort. This is an interesting film (which requires a bit of concentration) and is another subtitled number (why do foreign films do it better when it comes to lesbian romance?)

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are electric in this, the newest of the lezzy films in my list of faves. I reviewed it here for Local Secrets and as you can tell I loved it. True artistry (and I want to read the book too)!

And if all else fails, grab the L Word boxset!

I’m not an authority but I love a good lezzy film as much as the next girl (maybe a little more). Enjoy.
